About H&L Fence

The Houston fence company that builds it right the first time

Most fences in Texas don't fail because of the boards. They fail at the posts. Builder-grade wood posts soak up Gulf Coast humidity, rot at the ground line and start leaning within a few years, and then you're paying for the same fence twice.

H&L Fence was built to fix that. We're a locally owned fence company headquartered in Houston, installing, replacing and repairing residential and commercial fences across Texas. That covers everything from cedar privacy fences in Katy backyards to security fencing and automatic gates for warehouses, HOAs and apartment communities.

Every job gets galvanized steel posts set in concrete, storm-rated hardware, an itemized written quote and a crew that cleans up like we were never there. If anything we build leans or sags, we come back and make it right.

Quality that lasts

Built right from the ground up

Most wood fences fail at the posts. That's why every fence we build starts with galvanized steel posts set deep in concrete.

  • 1

    Storm-rated hardware

Galvanized pipe grip brackets wrap around each post and screw into the rails, so the fence holds up in Gulf Coast wind.

  • 2

    Galvanized steel posts

2-3/8" galvanized steel won't rot, warp or get eaten by termites the way wood posts do.

  • 3

    Set deep in concrete

Every post sits 2 to 3 feet deep in a wide concrete footing on a gravel base, finished at ground level so water runs off.

  • 4

    Cap and trim

A cedar cap with trim underneath covers the post tops and picket ends, shielding them from rain for a clean, finished look.

  • 5

    Cedar pickets

Naturally rot and insect resistant, with a warm grain that looks great natural or stained.

  • 6

    Rails and rot board

Pressure-treated rails, plus a rot board at ground level that keeps the pickets off the soil and is easy to replace.

FAQ

Fence questions, answered

Still have a question? Call now and talk to an estimator, not a call center.

How much will my fence cost?

It depends on the length, height, material, gates and your yard, so we don't guess. Send a few details and photos and we'll give you a free, written, itemized quote, usually right away. No surprise charges, no pressure.

Do I need a permit to build a fence in Houston?

Inside City of Houston limits, a permit is required for fences taller than 8 feet and for any fence built with masonry or concrete. A typical 6 to 8 ft wood or iron fence doesn't need one. Suburbs like Sugar Land, Pearland and Bellaire set their own rules, and HOA or deed restrictions often require approval. We check the rules for your address before we build.

How fast can you get started?

Tell us your deadline when you request a quote. Urgent repairs, storm damage and security issues get priority, and most residential fences take just 1 to 2 days to build once we start.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. H&L Fence is licensed and fully insured, with general liability coverage on every job. Our own trained crews do the work, never subcontractors. We handle permits wherever your city requires them, and we can send a certificate of insurance before we start.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing so you can spread the cost of your fence or gate into monthly payments. Ask about financing options when you get your quote.

Ready for a fence you never have to think about again?

It takes about 60 seconds. Tell us what you need and we'll text you a free, written quote right away.
